Gerald, what an amazing story. I’ve been reading your posts, and really appreciating them. We also recently watched the documentary on the WWII airmen at Buchenwald. It was also such a parallel to the Masters of the Air miniseries on Apple, that was based on a true story of the American 100th Bomber wing based in Britain, and their capture and imprisonment. I read the book Masters of the Air and while I haven't watched the movie yet, I understand that the rescue from Moosberg, the last POW camp, was about exactly as described by Joe Moser and written about in his book. Joe was right at the gate as the tanks busted through and watched them lower the Nazi flag and raise the Stars and Stripes. No dry eyes around, he said.
